We have all had our favorite movies as kids that we have, for one reason or another, watched over and over again. I can remember borrowing the same movies almost every time we went to the local library or running over to our next-door neighbors’ house for the millionth time to ask if we could borrow a favorite movie from their collection that we did not have. For this list, though, I think I will stick to only the movies or TV series that I have returned to in adulthood and continue to be on my comfort/illness watchlist.

Movies

1. Lord of the Rings- I count all three movies in this list. This trilogy is one that I have been obsessed with since childhood and continue to love as an adult. I do think I tend to watch the first two more often than the third. Although I will watch these movies at any time, I tend to watch the Fellowship of the Ring whenever I am sick, and I also like to watch the Fellowship as well as the Two Towers around Christmas time.

2. Home Alone (1 and 2), but I’ve probably seen 2 more often. As cliche as it is, nothing quite brings me comfort like hearing those classic Home Alone John Williams scores. There is something about the Christmas magic in these movies that really is like putting on a cozy blanket.

Shows

1.The Office -My Millenial is probably showing. Still, The Office is one of the first shows that I can really recall watching all the way through as a young adult and then going back and watching different episodes multiple times. Sometimes, I would watch all of a certain holiday ones ( Halloween, The Office Christmas Parties); other times, I would pick episodes based on mood. While I haven’t watched The Office in a couple of years ( I watched it so much I have lost count at this point), my love for the show is so much that instead of buying flowers for one of our first dates, my husband bought me DVDs of The Office.

2. Bob’s Burgers- Bob’s Burgers has become my new “Office” I watch the show in much the same way and whenever I am at lost as to what to watch (aka if there are no new episodes of whatever shows I happen to be watching, then I will inevitably return to Bob’s Burgers.
