Located at 1777 E Broad St. in Columbus, OH, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is Central Ohio’s most prominent botanical garden. The conservatory grounds are also home to the famous John F. Wolfe Palm House which dates back to 1895.
The grounds of the conservatory span about 13-acres and are comprised of the Conservatory building, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden and the Grand Mallway. Visitors to the gardens can expect to experience botanical biomes, fertile gardens, special art and horticultural exhibitions, as well as seasonal offerings.
Franklin Park Conservatory also is home to quite a collection of Chihuly glassworks. It was these glassworks that my husband and I, along with a group of our friends went to see. The colorful glass artwork is placed throughout the Conservatory’s biomes and plant collections. Visitors are able to watch as artists create blown-glass works of art during daily demonstrations in the Conservatory’s Hot Shop, which is open from April through December.
We actually went to one of the special nighttime events, Chihuly Nights. This event allows guests to explore the conservatory after dark, where the glassworks are professionally illuminated against the backdrop indoors.
The Chihluly Nights event is only on select dates. Tickets for dates next year will already be on sale in just a few days on Nov. 18th. You can check dates and purchase tickets here: https://www.fpconservatory.org/discover/gardens-collections/chihuly-collection/

The Conservatory always has a packed schedule of special events. You can find their calendar here: https://www.fpconservatory.org/calendar/
Additionally, with the Holiday season approaching, the Park is getting ready to change over to two new exhibitions.
First up is Holiday Blooms. The Conservatory halls will be transformed with hundreds of unique poinsettias, as well as poinsettia trees, and more. There will also be plenty of photo-op moments with holiday vignettes influenced by classic scenes from The Nutcracker. Holiday Blooms will run from Nov. 23rd to Jan. 5th.
Secondly, there will be the holiday themed after- dark exhibition, Conservatory Aglow. Outside visitors will be able to experience enchanting light displays, dance at a 90s-themed party, or relax in cozy igloos at the all-new Ahlum & Arbor Arctic Terrace. Inside guests will be greeted by lights, ornaments trees, and a life-size gingerbread house. Conservatory Aglow will also run from Nov. 23rd to Jan. 5th.
I hope to be able to make it out to the Conservatory this upcoming Holiday Season. Who knows, maybe I will see you some you of there 😉
